October TBR

The month of Halloween is here and I thought I would base my TBR on that theme this month, be festive and all that. So I've picked a little selection of books that I think fit and are a little spooky or gothic to choses from for October.

• The Day of the Triffids by John Wyndham
• Inferno by Dante

• War of the Worlds by H.G.Wells
• Frankenstein by Mary Shelley 

September TBR

Hello lovelies! Today I'm going to share my September TBR. I am going back to school this month for the 1st time since March but I am determined to keep reading because I need to make sure I relax a little.

• A Room with a View by E.M.Forster. This is one of my school texts that I need to read before I go back. 
• Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. Another English lit. text, I've read this before but I want to refresh a little before studying it. 
• Magonia by Maria Dahvana Headley. I'm already half way through this and enjoying it; it is about a girl who has always been ill and then finds out she is from another world in the sky.  
• The Elder Edda translated by Andy Orchard. I've started this also, it's a collection literature from the Vikings and I'm finding it very interesting so far especially as I'm seeing quite a few parallels to my classics a-level. 
• 1984 by George Orwell (re-read). I feel like reading this again basically, not particular reason.
• A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett. I've had this one the go for months and I really need to just finish it, but I absolutely adore it!
• Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs. This is coming out a the end of the month and is the 3rd book in Miss Peregrine's- I'm so excited!
• The Night is Darkening Round Me, Emily Bronte. This is some of her poetry and I want to read Wuthering Heights soon, I thought this would be a nice intro to her work.

I have a ton of books right now that I desperately want to read and I want to make sure I'm reading widely for school so hopefully I will read all these!

TBR Takedown 2.0 wrap-up

Hello :) The TBR Takedown happened last week and I had loads of plans to read a ton of different books but I wasn't in the mood. So instead I focused on reading what I wanted instead of the number of books. Having said that throughout I finished 2 books and read half of another 1.

On Saturday I finished What She Left by T.R.Richmond and I was pleasantly surprised. I've done a review so check that out if you want to know more.

Then on Thursday or maybe Wednesday (I can't quite remember) I finished A Slip under the Microscope by H.G.Wells which is a short story about a science student, I was starting to get into it and then it ended.

During the rest of the week I decided to pick up North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell which is over 500pgs so not exactly what you would typically read for a readathon but I've been wanting to give this a re-read for so long now I just decided to go with and I'm really glad I did because it is so good!

Booktubeathon TBR

The Booktubeathon is back! WOO! You know I love readathons and I know this is a book blog but who cares. First of all here are all the links to the booktubeathon: Youtube, Twitter & Instagram. It takes place from the 3rd-9th August and there are 7 challenges that I will try to complete but I'm not going to go mad about it :)

Challenges & my TBR:
1. Read a book with blue on the cover. This will either be Goblet of Fire or Order of the Phoenix by J.K.Rowling. It depends on when I get them form the library and which one I am on :)
2. Read a book by an author who shares the same first letter of your last name. Literally the only "H" I have is Thomas Hardy's Far From the Madding Crowd. So even though I wouldn't normally read a big classic in a readathon it may be doable.
3. Read someone else's favourite book. My friend Jenny has been wanting me to read If I Stay by Gayle Forman for a while now and since its pretty short I thought I'd give it a go.
4. Read the last book you acquired. The last book I brought that I have yet to read is The Isle of the Lost by Melissa De La Cruz.
5. Finish a book without letting go of it.- A Slip under the Microscope by H.G.Wells this is super tiny and I can finish it in 1 sitting so it is perfect.
6. Read a book you really want to read. - I am going to wait and just pick what I'm in the mood for at the time.
7. Read seven books. - This one I'm not to sure or bothered about but we'll see.

TBR Takedown 2.0 TBR

Hello in a couple days the 2nd  TBR Takedown readathon is taking place from 25th-31st July. I didn't take part in the 1st one earlier on in the year but I am super excited to join in this time round. It is hosted by Shannon (leaninglights) and this is her announcement video so make sure to check that for any info. There are 5 challenges and I've chosen a book for each but I may swap and change.

1. 1st book in a series. Deep Blue, Jennifer Donnelly.
2. Sequel book in a series. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban/Goblet of Fire, J.K.Rowling. (depends which 1 I am on).
3. Out of your comfort zone. A Street Car Named Desire, Tennessee Williams.
4. On your shelf for over a year (or the longest) The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender by Leslye Walton.
5. Most recently hauled book. The Isle of the Lost by Melissa De La Cruz.  
6. I would also like to read Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel.

Week of Wisdom TBR

Today marks the start of yet another readathon! The Week of Wisdom is running 20th-26th July and be sure to check out the Goodreads group. But basically it challenges you to read a book a day- each from a different genre:

My Summer TBR!

It is officially summer! (even though I've been off school for months but that's  besides the point) Because I'm going  into the dreaded land of English lit. A-level once again where I have no time to read, I am taking this free time to read a ton! I've compiled a list of mainly classics to read during the summer for when I'm not taking part in readathons. And I thought I'd share them with you! (especially since it will make me go through with it) I'm not going to put blurbs or anything because there are quite a few and I don't want this post to be super long. :)

Read-O-Rama TBR

Hello :) Yes I have just done a readathon but I want to take part in this one too.

This is the 2nd round of Read-O-Rama but my 1st time taking part, it is hosted by a number of people all of which you will find on the twitter- @readorama. It starts on 28th June and finishes on 4th July and there are 6 challenges which I will aim to complete:

• Read 7 books
• Read a fantasy book
• Read a book with blue on the cover
• Read a middle grade book 
• Read an ebook/audiobook
• Read a book that you can make RAMA out of its title and/or author

And the books I'm planning to read are: 

• A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas
• The Gracekeepers by Kirsty Logan (yet to buy)
• The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender by Leslye Walton
• The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot (audiobook)
• If I Stay by Gayle Forman 
• The Ring and the Crown by Melissa De La Cruz
• The Geography of You and Me by Jennifer E Smith

It will be a push to finish all of these but I want to at least finish all the challenges apart from the 1st one, let me know your goals!

Reading Rainbow Readathon TBR

Hello :) So it's readathon time again! I flippin' love readathons and since the last batch I've been in a bit of a slump so this one came at a great time.

The Reading Rainbow Readathon is hosted by the lovely ladies of Carpe Librum (@carpethislibrum) and runs from 15th-22nd June. The idea is to read a rainbow. You can either read a stack of books each spine being a different colour of the rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple), if you do this you can have 2 colours in one spine twice so you only have to read 4 books instead of 6. The other way you could pick your TBR is to have a stack of 6 books of all the same colour, a stack of blue, a stack of yellow you get the picture. It sounds super fun and super pretty :) I am going for the 1st TBR and my stack is:

• Lola and the Boy Next Door, Stephanie Perkins (orange)
• Tape, Steven Camden (yellow & blue)
• The Guest Cat, Takashi Hiraide (green)

I will try my hardest to read all this but obviously I'm just going to have fun and not put too much pressure on myself. Look out for an update somewhere in the middle on here and I 'll also posted on twitter & instagram. What is your TBR?

June TBR

Hello! So we are basically half way through the year which is crazy but the days are getting warmer so that's a plus! (most of the time that is). Today I'm going to share with  you my reading plans for June as tentative as they are. I don't know if I'll stick to it or read this many but we'll see :)

• Emma by Jane Austen. (I have started this)
• Little Women by Louisa May Alcott (I've also read a tiny bit of this)
• The Assassin's Blade by Sarah J Maas (again half way through this 1)
• The Guest Cat by Takashi Hiraide (guess what? half way through as well!)
• Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Allbertalli

December Wrap-up!

Happy New Year!!

I'm still busy wrapping up last year (that's weird to say since it was only yesterday) so today I bring you my December Wrap-up and in a way what I will be reading in January. I finished 2 books this month. 1 for school, 1 not for school.

• Antigone by Sophocles this is a tragedy that I read for Classics. It was okay, much easier to understand than Agamemnon at least ;) 2 Stars. 
• The Miniaturist, Jessie Burton. This is an easy 5 starts I loved loved loved it! I hadn't read a historical in ages so it was nice to read 1 again. I think main reason why I loved it so much is because I never knew what was coming next.

Now I don't know why but I'm in one of those moods where I don't know what to read and so I've dug myself a bit of a hole and I have 4 books on the go! I'm hoping to finish these off this month :)

• Wind in the Willows, Kenneth Grahame.
• Shadow Kiss Richelle Mead
• My True Gave To Me, edited by Stephanie Perkins
• Mockingjay, Suzanne Collins

Anyway I hope you enjoy the rest of the holiday and get some reading done!

May TBR

May has arrived along with a good chunk of my exams! But I'm still going to keep reading as it will hopefully keep me sane! I know that I want to finish The Book Thief and there are 2 books that I'm going to read and then I another 2 which I may or may not get through.

Number 1 on the list is Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen. I got a beautiful penguin English library edition recently that I can't wait to start!

2. Northanger Abbey by Val McDermid. This is a modern retelling of Austen's and is part of the Austen Project. I love modernised classics but have never read 1 in book form.

3. The Morning gift by Eva Ibbotson. I have had this for nearly a year now, and I don't know why I haven't read it. I adore Eva Ibbotson's books and her writing and this 1 sounds really good. It is however her only adult book I haven't read, and it will be sad when its over.

4. Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green & David Levithan. I've never read a collab book before and the premise is intriguing so I'm looking forward to it and hoping that it is a nice, quick easy read.

So they are the books. As I said I will definitely get through the Northanger Abbeys and I'd say one the others too but we will see. I may also end up reading Of Mice & Men and The Women in Black right before my exam again too. Has any of you read these? What are your thoughts?
